Reflection of Multimedia Production Course (#2 meeting)

Thursday, 29 of September 2011 was my second time I attend the Multimedia Production course.  In this meeting we were discussed about advance ICT and Blog as part of web 2.0 which is also part of advance ICT.

My lecturer Mr. M. Rinaldi started the lesson by telling us about the lesson objectives. Then we continued with discussing about paradigm shift. Many technology tools are used in education field in order to make the teaching and learning process more effective and easier. Paradigm shift in learning is marked by teaching tools changing. For example, teachers used to ask the students to write some essays on paper then submit it to them, but now mostly, especially in high school and college, teacher usually ask the student to submit the essay through e-mail. It makes it the submission easier and also paperless. We also discussed it on group and based on my group discussion the changing also happen in teaching tools in the classroom. We used to use blackboard and chalk but now many schools are starting to use LCD and projector.

The innovation of education field also happens in teaching method. Nowadays many people can do online learning through internet. We can find many resources that provide us the material to study. Most of the resources in the internet is web 2.0 base such as blog, wiki, podcast, software networking, book networking etc. This also makes teaching and learning process easier. Even the learning activity can be done everywhere and every time.
At this meeting we just talked about blog as part of web 2.0 first. We also can use blog as teaching tools. Blog in education field can act as:

·         Space for collaborative students

·         Knowledge management

·         Space which allows articulation

·         Space for sharing information

·         Multimedia

If we look into pedagogy of blog we can find out that blog gives us many advantages in education field.

Firstly, blog as constructive tools for teaching can help people in developing their self and others.

Second, blog can expand the walls of the classroom. It means that learning activity is not going to be limited only in the classroom. We can share and get information to people all around the world through blog.

Third, blog can support different learning style. For example, student who likes studying through visualization can use blog which consists of many visual aids for the materials.

Fourth, blog facilitates reflection. Students can use blog to document what they have learnt so when they forget they can go to the blog site.
