Me and People

    People have lived in this world for long time ago and many phenomenons also had been done.  They behave, do interaction to each other and create their own culture because they possess thoughts and mind. The culture might be different among people. Personally I think, that is because we live in different area. This world is a very huge area. Moreover, we are separated by mountains and oceans. My culture could be different with my classmates in college because there are many people from different region go to college.

People are social creature. They cannot stand alone. That is why people do interaction each other to make their life easier. The interaction among people creates their own culture which can be different to one another. The differences could be on race, religion or nation. The culture usually shows their identity. It happens in my class at college. There are many people come from many areas with different culture. For example, my friend Momo speaks with strong stress when she sounds /d/ or /b/. The way she speaks shows her identify as a Javanese.

The differences of culture do not only happen on race but also on religion. At my college there are about three religions, there are Islamism, Christian and Hinduism. We live together as a country that is united by Pancasila. Moreover, as human who possess thoughts and mind we should respect others. We should look at ourselves. We will feel happy if other respects our culture, as I experienced when my friend who was Christian let me to pray (Sholat) when we were doing our group homework. I felt happy because she understood and respected me as a Moslem. I think it is good to live in the differences and that is why I never treat people, especially my friend, differently based on their background. If we look at ourselves that we prefer to be respected so we have to respect others too. We have to learn how to live together among the differences.

Now I am in college learning about human in Humanistic Studies 1 course. This course will be about human and the culture. I hope I can get some knowledge about how to appreciate someone else culture and how to keep my own so it will not be lost. Moreover, as the candidate of teacher I should know how to teach my student to be able to accept the differences and live together in peace on it. Especially in Indonesia which is a country with a thousand of culture.
